After being let down by just one goal on Saturday, we’re looking to bounce back on Tuesday night with these Football League selections in a treble that pays just under 5/1.

With so much riding on the next few weeks of the season, we’re backing these six teams to all find the target at some stage during the evening. Let’s hope they do to land us a first winner of the new month.

Good luck.

Bristol City v Rotherham United

This is a crazy period of the campaign, and there’s always one team that seems to climb out of the abyss and towards safety. As far as the Championship is concerned, Rotherham United appear to be the resilient outfit that have hit form at the right time and they’ll be eager to continue that at Ashton Gate.

The Millers have registered 13 points from the last possible 15 to drag themselves out of the bottom three, and a win over Bristol City would see them leapfrog the hosts to virtually seal their retained status. With the likes of Leon Best and Lee Frecklington finally scoring the goals, there’s no reason for Neil Warnock’s men to be scared, particularly as the hosts have shipped 29 at home.

Bristol City have scored 23 of their own on home soil, though, and will be looking to punish an away defence that’s shipped 31 on its travels. Peter Odemwingie, Jonathan Kodija and Aaron Wilbraham all boast the talents to fire the hosts to a crucial win, and you wouldn’t rule them out in spite of Rotherham’s recent form.

We fancy a score draw here, so odds of 20/23 on BTTS has to appeal. Let’s hope the two sides deliver.

Fleetwood Town v Peterborough United

The flooding of goals for Peterborough United this season has been even greater than the flooding of single mums selling aloe vera products on Facebook, which has made Graham Westley’s men a firm favourite on the BTTS coupon. We have no reason to feel this trend will end as they make the midweek trip to Highbury.

Saturday’s clean sheet against struggling Crewe brought an end to Posh’s seven game BTTS streak, and the visitors have scored an impressive 10 goals in their last four games alone. Overall, their away record reads 32 goals scored in just 19 away games. However, they have also leaked 29.

Struggling Fleetwood are in desperate need of a few more results to secure League One survival. If Steven Pressley’s men are to avoid the drop, their home form will be vital. The hosts have hit 28 goals in 19 games here and should fancy their chances against a weak away defence. Sadly, their own defensive issues could be a major cause for concern.

Peterborough clinched a 2-1 win in the reverse clash. A similar result wouldn’t surprise us at all.

Carlisle United v Hartlepool United

Keith Curle’s Cumbrians will still be in with a shout of reaching the League Two play-offs if they can win this game in hand, but they should be prepared for a tough test against a much improved Hartlepool.

The visitors have struggled for long periods, but a recent run of 17 points from 21 has essentially saved them from relegation. New boss Craig Hignett will be eager to keep this sequence running for as long as possible and his side shouldn’t have too many issues finding the net here; after all, Carlisle have conceded 29 in 19 at Brunton Park.

A record of 35 home goals will give the hosts reason for optimism, though, especially against a side that’s leaked 29 on the road. The Cumbrians can also take confidence from the 3-2 win at Victoria Park back in August.

With Jabo Ibehre, Charlie Wyke and Billy Paynter on the pitch, both teams will be looking for goals against defences that are as weak as Mark Bonar’s. Back goals at both ends.
