Euro 2016 Antepost Betting: Back Our Top Team Goalscorer Selections

The countdown is nearly over, and excitement for Euro 2016 is now at fever pitch. In addition to the excitement of seeing Europe’s best in action, we’ll also be looking to land plenty of profit over the next month of drama – starting with some antepost betting.

We’re turning our attentions to the team goalscorer markets, and have picked five players to lead the way for their respective nations. Backing a tournament scorer is always risky, especially as you’re relying on the team to go far too. However, sticking to the team markets removes that threat completely.

And by stringing just five players together, we could be turning £10 into over £1250. That’s gotta be worth a pre-tournament punt!

Russia: Artyom Dzyuba @ 10/3 – SkyBet

Russia have faced huge problems and off the pitch over the past couple of years, and that could easily spill over to plague their tournament. Regardless of how early they drop out, Dzyuba should be their top scorer.

This is one that could possibly end up being a dead heat. But at odds of 10/3, even a three way split wouldn’t be the end of the world. The Zenit man hit an impressive eight goals in qualifying too and, at 27, this should be one of his best tournaments. Let’s just hope his goals only come against Slovakia.

Germany: Thomas Muller @ 5/4 – SkyBet

The world champions might not be as strong as they once were, but the departure of former key men only further cements Thomas Muller’s place as Germany’s goalscoring frontrunner.

After scoring nine goals in qualifying, confidence will be high. Meanwhile, the Bayern man has enjoyed great success on the big stage before, landing the golden boot at World Cup 2010 and notching five in Brazil two years ago too.

Poland: Robert Lewandowski @ 4/6 – SkyBet

As far as Poland are concerned, it’s a two-horse race between key man Robert Lewandowski and rising star Arkadiusz Milik. While the Ajax attacker could put himself in the shop window with a big performance in France, it’s hard to see him outscoring the Bayern Munich hero.

Lewandowski scored more goals than anyone else in qualifying, registering 13 in total. If he brings that form into the tournament, he could even stake a claim for the golden boot.

Belgium: Kevin De Bruyne @ 9/2 – SkyBet

Belgium will be considered the dark horses in many people’s books, and they certainly have enough attacking quality to do big things in France. And they don’t come any better than Manchester City’s infectious attacking midfielder.

Romelu Lukaku will naturally be the favourite to lead the scoring charts for the Red Devils. The Everton man hasn’t actually played that much for Belgium in recent times, though, while De Bruyne was the country’s joint leading marksman in qualifying. It’s probably the riskiest selection of the lot but, at 9/2, it’s impossible to resist. KDB gets our backing.

Portugal: Cristiano Ronald @ 4/9 – SkyBet

Fully fit or not, the Real Madrid star is the biggest attraction at the tournament. More importantly for our bet, he’s Portugal’s best attacking player by a mile. Even at 50% fitness, we’d fancy him to stroll his way to top team goalscorer.

Ronaldo scored five of Portugal’s 11 in qualifying, and is also chasing Michel Platini’s record of nine goals in Euro finals. Three goals would see him match the Frenchman, and we wouldn’t bet against it. If the 31-year-old does hit that target, this selection should win with ease.
