Football Acca Tip Saturday 12th March – Get on this whopping 76/1

It’s time for a little dabble in the match markets this weekend and I’ve been sifting through the fixtures to find 5 teams that I like the look of to boost those coupons of yours:

QPR v Brentford

I’m taking the hosts to build on a few impressive results this weekend. The picked up a solid 2-0 win over Derby County in the week and that’s now only 2 losses in their last 10 games for Hasselbaink’s men. Only 3 sides have walked away from Loftus Road with all 3 points this season and I really don’t see Brentford making that 4.

The visitors have won only 2 of their last 10 in all competitions and are not quite safe yet, sitting only 8 points clear of the drop. Their last 2 losses have been against two sides who sit in the relegation zone and against a QPR side who could yet make a late push for the playoffs I see the hosts taking all 3 points.

Barnsley v Southend

It seems like only a few minutes ago that after Barnsley’s terrible start to the season, they were nestled in the relegation zone of League One and their season looked over. Yet an incredible turnaround and with 12 wins in their last 15 games, they’ve literally come back from the dead and now sit 6th in the league with real prospects of a return to The Championship.

Here at home it’s 6 wins on the bounce and they should make that 7 this weekend. Southend are the visitors to Oakwell and with only 1 win in their last 6 and 3 away losses on the bounce, their playoff chase looks to be fading away. I expect Barnsley to take another step in the right direction here.

Northampton v Cambridge

How can you not back Northampton at this price? They sit 13 points clear at the top of League Two now and are 19 points clear of 4th placed Accrington, meaning promotion is all but guaranteed. They picked up an impressive 1-4 win at Carlisle last weekend meaning they are now unbeaten in 13 league games, winning 11 of those.

Here at home they are unbeaten in 6, winning 5 of those and as Cambridge visit Sixfields this weekend, another 3 points looks all but a formality to me. The visitors do still have hopes of reaching the playoffs and in a tight league they sit 13th but are only 3 points behind 7th placed Wimbledon. But with an away record which reads W1-D1-L3 in their last 5 away games I can’t see them picking up anything here, despite their decent record against Northampton in recent years.

BET: Northampton to win at 9/10 with BetVictor

Morecambe v AFC Wimbledon

Backing against Morecambe these days is like taking candy from a baby (well, unless you backed against them last weekend when they drew with Carlisle). In their last 10 games they have collected just 2 points and they continue to slide down the table. It’s unlikely that they’ll get dragged into the relegation battle given their 11 point advantage over York but it could happen if they continue on this slippery slope.

This weekend they host Wimbledon who sitting 7th in the league are having a memorable season to say the least. They were beaten 3-1 by Bristol Rovers in the week but have survived somewhat unscathed after a difficult run of fixtures which has seen them face 4 sides in the top 6 in their last 4 games.

In their last 4 away games against weaker sides they have beaten Notts County, Cambridge, Exeter and Barnet who occupy 4 of the 5 places above Morecambe in the league and a return to form is on the cards this weekend I feel.

Aldershot v Torquay

My final selection comes at a hefty price but I think it’s well worth a punt on the away side here. Firstly, Aldershot are in dire form at the moment losing 3 of their last 4 games and that came to a head against Chester on Tuesday night when The Shots were beaten by an embarrassing 8-2 scoreline against an unremarkable Chester outfit.

Torquay’s season may well have been absolutely dire but after 2 wins in their previous 20 games, they are now undefeated in 5, winning 4 of those. They are only 3 points adrift of safety in the relegation zone now and as much as it seemed impossible a few months back, Torquay do have a real shot at survival if they can continue this form. At such a big price, I think they’re great value here for a win. If you don’t want to risk the win, have a pop at Torquay draw no bet.
