Total Team Goals Tips Saturday 28th November – Follow Free Scoring Posh!

I was left reeling after last week’s result as Gateshead failed to find the net twice against bottom of the table Halifax who were reduced to 10 men in the first half.

It was a pretty incredible result and the only one to let down the team goals treble, but I’ve had a few days to dust myself down and get back on it for this weeks’ bet. Here’s my team goals treble for this weekend:

Scunthorpe vs Peterborough

I’m really enjoying backing Peterborough to score goals at the moment and this weekend should be no exception. The Posh have been firing on all cylinders as of late and despite their inability to keep a clean sheet, they continue to sneak up the table at a steady pace, simply by outscoring other sides.

Having failed to score against Rochdale on the opening day of the season, Peterborough have gone on to score in their following 18 games in a row and have scored 2 or more goals in 9 of their last 10 in League One.

They’ve scored more goals than any other side in the league and with the likes of Angol, Oztumer, Taylor, Anderson, Coulibaly and of course Marcus Maddison having all scored 4 or more goals for the club this season, it’s no wonder they are seeing an abundance of goals.

Away from home this season, The Posh have scored in 8 of 9 games, scoring 2 or more in 4 of their last 5 and though they travel to a difficult outfit on Saturday in Scunthorpe, I’m confident that they can once again do the business.

Grimsby vs Kidderminster

A bit of a banker on the cards next as a price of 1/3 is never something I would normally bet on as a single, but as part of this treble it forms a nice little odds booster to the other two well-priced selections so I thought it was worth including.

Kidderminster are one of only two Conference sides who have failed to keep a single clean sheet on their travels this season and today they face one of their toughest opponents yet in Grimsby Town. Here at Blundell Park, Grimsby have been pretty relentless in front of goal this season, scoring 28 goals in their 11 home league games, a record matched only by Wrexham.

They’ve scored 2 or more goals in 7 of those 11 games and have hit a decent run as of late, scoring 17 goals in their last 5 in all competitions. As I mentioned previously, Kidderminster just cannot keep a clean sheet away from home and they’ve conceded 2 or more goals in each of their last 4 in all competitions on the road, including shipping 3 goals at lower league Stourbridge in the FA Cup.

It’s a pretty abysmal record and is a huge contributing factor to their position of 23rd in the league. And given Halifax’s confidence boosting win last week and the fact that Kidderminster should be smashed here by Grimsby, it’s a feasible option that they could well be relegated to bottom spot come 5PM on Saturday.

York vs Accrington

My final bet comes as a bit of a punt against a team who just can’t stop conceding, rather than a team who can always find the net. To say York have been struggling as of late would be an understatement to be honest.

I watched the highlights of their 6-0 drubbing at Portsmouth in the week and they were diabolical, but that was just the tip of an iceberg which has been sinking for some time. York are without a win in 10 games and without a single point in 7 games now. Over those 7 games they have conceded 20 goals, 3 of which came against today’s opponents Accrington in the FA Cup.

I say Accrington can’t always find the net, but they come into this in a pretty decent run of form without loss in 5, scoring 12 in those games, so it’s hardly a goal drought that they’re suffering.

They put 3 goals past Cambridge last weekend and have had a bit of a rest with their game in the week against Hartlepool having been called off. They’ve scored in 4 of their 5 previous visits to Bootham Crescent and given the home side’s shocking defensive form at the minute I just have to include Accrington to bag a few today.
