Millwall V Cardiff City (12:15PM)

Our first selection comes form the Championship and we’re backing the vastly improved Bluebirds to score another positive result against Millwall.

Cardiff boast a pretty decent record against the Lions in recent years and have seen major progressions since sacking former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. New manager Russell Slade is still searching for a first away win in charge of the Welsh club and that could well come at the New Den.

Millwall have been on a terrible run as of late, rendering much of their impressive early work redundant. Ian Holloway’s men can’t seem to find a winning formula right now and that is unlikely to come against a side that they’ve not beaten in eight attempts.

Nevertheless, we cannot overlook Cardiff’s poor defensive record on the road. Whilst we think they can sneak the victory, Millwall should be expected to score.

Crewe Alexandra V Sheffield United

League One’s pre-season favourites took a little while to get their season up and running but are now in good form and look well on target to at least challenge for promotion this term. Nigel Clough will expect his team to beat a Crewe side that currently sits in the relegation zone.

The hosts have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes over the past couple of weeks, registering three consecutive wins, but they will be fully aware of how difficult Saturday’s showdown could be. However, Steven Davis’ men can at least be confident about their chances of pushing the Blades all the way by getting on the scoresheet.

Unfortunately, though, Crewe leak goals for fun. Despite registering back-to-back clean sheets in their last two games, Alexandra have shipped 30 already this term and the Sheffield United strikers will be licking their lips ahead of the trip to Gresty Road.

The Blades have hit 12 goals in seven away games this season and should increase that tally to ensure three points against Crewe. However, the improving home side can cause problems to an away defence that has conceded 13 on the road and we are therefore backing goals at both ends.

Nevertheless, the visitors should prevail.

Cambridge United V Hartlepool United

Cambridge United have been involved in some fantastic matches over the past few weeks and the entertainment should continue at the Abbey Stadium as they face off against struggling Hartlepool.

Richard Money’s men have shown indifferent form since gaining promotion from the Conference but should be confident against an away team that has already shipped 14 on the road, losing five of seven matches.

However, the visitors will take heart from their recent away win at Exeter and have at least scored in three of their past four outings on the road. Meanwhile, Cambridge have conceded in each of their past four home games so Sam Collins’ strugglers can at least hope to pose a genuine threat in this one.

Cambridge will expect to win, though. We think they will secure the points, even if they do need at least two goals to do so.
