Goals Bet Sunday 8th September – Back Coventry To Continue Goal Assault

Result:
Coventry 2-0 Colchester
WINNER

Saying I’m pleased with the way my opening selections for GoalsGaloretips have gone thus far is a rather huge understatement. Who wouldn’t be ecstatic after winning 4 from 4 selections and posting a 100% strike rate (albeit over a very short period)?

There’s not a huge fixture list to choose from this Sunday, but in the form I’m in at the moment I’m just going to push on and go with what really sticks out. Here is my selection for Sunday:

Coventry to score over 1.5 goals v Colchester – 3.00pm
Odds – 1.8

Despite being in a temporary home (Sixfields – Northampton’s ground), Coventry have wasted no time settling in; 17 goals have been scored in their two games there. On Sunday they face an injury ridden Colchester side that, as of Thursday, had just 11 first team players fit for duty.

Coventry have no new injury worries and will be welcoming back Blair Adams to the defensive line. A 5-4 win over Bristol City followed by a 4-4 draw with Preston suggest that the home side have plenty of weapons in their arsenal despite a rather leaky defence. As a result of the defensive frailty over 1.5 team goals looks to be the answer.

Colchester have impressed defensively so far this season, keeping 2 clean sheets and conceding just 4 goals in total, but I have a feeling they may get caught up in an offensive shoot out with their opponents and I’m very confident we’ll see Coventry hit the back of the net at least twice.
