Fancy bashing the bookies to the tune of £600 this weekend? Then join us on this BTTS & Win treble.
Two of our three selections were right last weekend and with a little bit of luck we might just claim the big jackpot here. All three teams are in desperate need of points and should get their respective jobs done. However, the nerves are sky high at this stage of the seasons which could lead to goals for the opposition.
Let’s hope that’s how the afternoon develops.
Tottenham Hotspur V Aston Villa
Hopes of Champions League qualification are quickly fading at White Hart Lane, but Tottenham Hotspur will be desperate to pressurise the top four with a comfortable win over Aston Villa this weekend.
With the Manchester giants set to face each other on Sunday, this is the perfect chance for Mauricio Pochettino’s men to throw their hat back into the race and the Argentine manager will be eager to send a message to his rivals with a big win. If Golden Boot frontrunner Harry Kane has his way, then Spurs could be celebrating a number of goals against the division’s fourth worst defence.
Spurs have been strong at home this term and will be fully expected to beat Villa. However, the visitors are enjoying a lease of new life under new boss Tim Sherwood and that added attacking threat should increase the chances of goals at both ends of the pitch. Christian Benteke will be eager to follow up his midweek hat-trick with another goal, but that might not be enough to secure any points at the Lane.
Sherwood would love to get a result against his former employers and his spirited Villa should be well up for this challenge. Unfortunately for the visitors, the gulf in quality should shine through.
BTTS & Tottenham Win @ 23/10
Middlesbrough V Rotherham United
The Championship title race has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions in recent weeks and Aitor Karanka’s men face a real battle if they want to claim one of two automatic promotion places, especially after losing two away games on the spin.
However, Boro’s form at the Riverside has remained strong and the likes of Patrick Bamford and Kike will be looking to fire the hosts to a fifth straight home win over struggling Rotherham. A vital win over Brighton has given the visitors a fantastic chance of staying in the division, but it is worth noting Steve Evans’ men have lost five of their past six on the road.
The Millers would view any points as a bonus and that sense of freedom could give them a greater attacking threat. However, Boro have netted 38 home goals already and should have no trouble increasing that tally here.
Nerves will inevitably play their part, which is why we think Rotherham can get on the scoresheet. Nevertheless, Boro’s immense attacking quality should send their fans home with smiles upon their faces.
BTTS & Middlesbrough Win @ 14/5
Barnsley V Chesterfield
Our final selection comes from League One as an in-form Chesterfield look to give their play-off bid another push with a fifth consecutive victory .However, the Spireites shouldn’t expect to have everything their own way as they head to Oakwell.
Barnsley’s recent dip in form has ended any slim hopes of a top six finish but Lee Johnson’s will want to end their run of bad results by getting back to winning ways here. Despite the lack of form, the Tykes have still scored goals with three of their past four ending in BTTS winners and we can’t see anything other than another here.
In fact, Barnsley’s home games have been a regular feature on BTTS coupons thanks to their return of 34 scored and 27 conceded from their previous 20. Whilst we think goals are likely, it’s hard to overlook the current form which makes it impossible to lean towards anything other than an away win.
Paul Cook’s men registered a 2-1 home victory over Barnsley back in November. A similar result on the road would suit us perfectly.
