QPR v Brentford

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men registered a fantastic 2-0 win over Derby on Tuesday night and they’ll be hoping to follow those heroics with another victory at Loftus Road. However, local rivals Brentford will be equally optimistic heading into this clash and we’re predicting plenty of drama in this Championship derby.

Results have hardly left the Bees buzzing in recent weeks, but Dean Smith’s side have at least been finding. In fact, the visitors have fired just two blanks in their last nine, additionally boasting the division’s best away goalscoring return with 24 strikes. Sadly, a defence that has leaked 29 is likely to be their downfall.

Following Tuesday’s win, the hosts have now scored in eight consecutive home games, taking their tally to 28 in 20. Like Brentford, their defence hasn’t been quite so strong and the excitement and pressure of a derby could add an extra sense of vulnerability.

Back both teams to score.

Morecambe v Wimbledon

In League Two, Morecambe’s recent results have been absolutely awful. Last week’s 1-1 draw did stop the losing streak, though, and Jim Bentley’s men will head into this weekend’s clash with high hopes of registering a first win in 11.

Points have eluded Morecambe, but 13 of their last 15 matches have ended in BTTS winners so there’s no reason to doubt their ability in the final third. If they can get the ball to Shaun Miller on a regular basis, they’ll have every chance of making the net shake, particularly as visiting Wimbledon are in poor form too.

Neal Ardley’s men haven’t won in four, but three of those games brought goals at both ends of the pitch. Meanwhile, the attacking strength of Adebayo Akinfenwa, Lyle Taylor and co should give the Dons every reason to fancy their chances as they look to cling onto their play-off place.

It was a 5-2 win to Morecambe when the sides met in London. Another seven-goal thriller at the Globe Arena would suit us just fine.

Dover Athletic v Tranmere Rovers

As far as the weekend’s non-league schedule is concerned, it’s hard to look past Dover and Tranmere as the most exciting game of the day. Both teams are looking to bag a play-off spot, but it already looks like there might only be space for one. This should be an epic battle at Lewisham Road, and we’re hopeful that it will provide goals.

The hosts have hit an impressive 32 goals in 17 home games, which will give Chris Kinnear’s men confidence as they look to leapfrog their opponents into the top five. The trio of Stefan Payne, Ricky Miller and Nicky Deverdics boast 40 goals between them overall too, and have more than enough quality to score against a Rovers side that’s leaked 21 on the road.

Gary Brabin’s visitors are a strong opponent, though, and will be equally confident of picking up a positive result. They’ve already netted 26 on the road and know that a victory would keep them in the driving seat for a top five finish. They did fail to score in the reverse clash, but we’re backing them to have more joy here.

Nevertheless, Dover’s attacking class should see them find the target too. Let’s just hope the two sides don’t cancel each other out.
