Football Tips Sunday 10th August – Community Shield and Championship bets

After starting the 2014/15 season with a bang yesterday when both of my selections came in at 11/10 and 4/5 respectively, I’m back on the case this Sunday with a couple of little wagers which I feel will give me a decent run for my money and a bit of interest as I watch the games live.

It’s always good for confidence to get a nice winner on opening day of the season, so let’s hope it continues today. Good luck if you follow.

Arsenal v Manchester City

Community Shield 3.00pm

The curtain raiser to the new Premier League season and I’m very confident I can make a bit of profit in this clash at Wembley. Manuel Pellegrini and Arsene Wenger have already got involved in a little war of words regarding signings this season, and I’m pretty certain that this Community Shield tie is going to have a little bit of spice about it.

Both sides will have a rather unfamiliar look to them as Manchester City will be resting many players who had prolonged World Cup campaigns, and new loan signing Frank Lampard will play no part. Arsenal are likely to be without Olivier Giroud who looked short of fitness last time out, and it will be interesting to see Calum Chambers in action (he’s likely to be starting at centre back).

What I’m pretty certain of here is goals. More specifically goals for both teams. I can’t see either club keeping a clean sheet today and I will be getting a fair wedge on both teams to score at 8/13 with Stan James (other bookies are as short as 1/2).

Head to head, four of the last five meetings between these two have seen both teams find the net, and I expect it to be no different today. We won’t be seeing the finished articles in terms of strength and fitness, and the sides are likely to be pretty different looking to that of their first league game next week. This game has got goals written all over it. Not so much a goalfest, but I’m certain both teams will score. 8/13 is a gift in my opinion.

Wolves v Norwich

Championship 4.00pm

Quite an appealing game this, as League 1 champions Wolves take on relegated Premier League side Norwich. My opinion of this game is that it’s going to be a rather slow burner, and Norwich will go about their business in a solid yet unspectacular fashion. A stat that stands out to me is that the visitors haven’t won on opening day of the season in their last 11 attempts (losing 5 and drawing 6).

Both teams will be hoping to avoid a loss on opening day and I’m not sure we’ll see much flowing football at Molineux today. I actually think a solitary goal could win this clash. With that in mind my advised bet for this game is under 2.5 goals at 4/5 with BetVictor. I’m pretty confident that goals will be in short supply here and I’m more than happy to have 2 goals or under on my side at the price.
