A midweek flurry of league games greets us after the FA Cup weekend and we welcome the domestic ties with open arms here at Goals Galore and have picked out a treble of games where we are expecting BTTS! Check them out…
Liverpool v Everton
Premier League – 8.00pm Tuesday
You can’t ask for much more from a fixture list when the Merseyside derby is on. It is always a cracking tie full of goals, cards and controversy. Expect no different as both sides have realistic hopes for a Champions League spot after brilliant performances throughout the first half of the season.
Whilst both teams have scored for fun this season, it is Liverpool who have had the SaS partnership which has yielded an incredible 33 goals between both Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge which is quite frightening. The pair are now back together after Sturridge had a period of injury which broke up the duo, but now they’re getting back that golden connection as well as a bit of much needed Sturridge fitness, I can see at least a goal between them. Pool have played 22 leagues games so far this campaign and 81 goals have gone in at either end- we could easily see four go in both nets .
In the reverse fixture at Goodison Park we witnessed a classic 3-3 draw which is a good omen for BTTS on Tuesday night. Kevin Mirallas and a brace from Romelu Lukaku formed the score sheet for the Toffees and with the pair building up a strong playing relationship for both club and country you can imagine they’ll cause plenty of problems for the Reds once more. The nature of these two sides, along with the rivalry, should provide an exciting encounter and hopefully one that’s full of goals.
Barnsley v Blackburn Rovers
Championship – 7.45pm Tuesday
Regular relegation battlers Barnsley will be looking to pick up some important points at home when they take on an improving Blackburn Rovers side who have hopes of a Play Off place come end of the season. The pair certainly got among the goals last time met back in August when Blackburn thrashed Barnsley 5-2 at Ewood Park. More of the same please.
Bottom of the league Barnsley are now five points adrift of Millwall in 21st and will treat every game like a cup final to scrape back some vital points. Here at Oakwell, wins need to be fashioned to give them hope of survival with their home form being significantly better than their abysmal away efforts. Just one win in eight does not make good reading for the Tykes however this was in their last tie against Blackpool and confidence from that should see us getting a few goals from the Yorkshire side.
Blackburn are beginning to turn the mess of the last few years round by starting to play some football the fans can be proud of. Rovers currently reside in 9th place and are in touching distance of the top six. A revelation of a signing has been Jordan Rhodes who is repaying every penny of the astronomical fee Blackburn paid for him. The Scot has already scored 16 league goals during this campaign which has left him second in line for the Championship’s Golden Boot. I am expecting a closer game than the one played back in August but one with plenty of goals from both sides once more.
Leyton Orient v Coventry City
League 1 – 7.45pm Tuesday
What a tie we have in store for you here, these two sides have lost just nine games between them out of the 52 matches they have played this season in League One and that’s not mentioning the 111 goals scored along the way! The pair lead the league for most goals scored, so surely we should be expecting Goals Galore here on Tuesday night.
Leyton Orient continues to prove the doubters wrong and show no sign of letting up the incredible start to the season they have had. Still in line for automatic promotion in second, the O’s have failed to score just once at home this season and that was against a water tight Preston North End who have conceded just 27 goals this season which compares favourably to Coventry’s total of 45. Mooney and Lisbie have been terrorising defences all season and that surely wont stop in this midweek clash.
Coventry are far stronger than their league position states after a point deduction handed to them at the start of the campaign. Away from home the Sky Blues score on average two goals a game and are a far more dangerous prospect where they seem to play without fear. In doing so, they also tend to concede plenty as well. Striker Leon Clarke is joint top scorer in the league with 15 goals and partner Callum Wilson is on 14. A little bit further down the list is Moussa who is sitting on 11 and when you dont have to rely on just one scorer, goals are never far away!
