Tuesday night is a huge night across Europe as the World Cup Qualification Groups reach their final set of fixtures to determine who will be partaking in the World Cup next summer, which teams will be keeping their dream alive by battling it out in the play offs and who will be eliminated and have to wait another four years.
We have provided a treble here at Goals Galore where the back of the net should be rippling regularly after 7pm on Tuesday.
Sweden v Germany – 7.45pm Tuesday
Both teams to score odds – 8/13
Who can forget the last tie between these two nations, an absolute classic took place which finished 4-4 after Germany were 4-0 up. Unbelievable scenes Jeff! That game is all that has been spoken about in the lead up to this fixture, and that’s also because the result will make no affect on the final top two positions. Germany have already qualified and Sweden will be competing in the play-offs.
Sweden have been victorious in their previous five matches and will be looking to extend that in a game they have been really looking forward to. The main man Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be his usual confident self and even more so after scoring the winner in their play off clinching tie against Austria, the striker will be thriving at the opportunity of beating Germany. The Swedes have scored eight goals in their last three fixtures and even though they might not get the result they are after, they’ll certainly get a goal.
The ever confident Germany easily dispatched Republic of Ireland last Friday with a 3-0 victory and will go into Tuesday’s match with no pressure but looking to impress. You just know a team who have scored over three goals a game on average across eight fixtures are a team who find the net with ease and will do so again in their final group fixture.
Turkey v Holland – 7.00pm Tuesday
Both teams to score odds – 4/7
Holland are through and are now preparing for the big stage in Brazil. Turkey on the other hand have it all to play for. They are currently in the hot seat to take a play off place but are on level points with Romania who are just two points ahead of Hungary. What a finish we have in store!
Turkey will know that any points dropped here will likely see them fall from second spot as Romania and Hungary have very winnable fixtures. In their last three games they have secured three victories which has propelled them into play off contention, and with everything on the line here I cannot see them going 90 minutes without getting a goal for their efforts.
The Dutch have qualified and their sensational run shows no sign of hitting the buffers as they enter their final match. Over the nine games, Holland have won eight and drawn one, they will want to go out on a high and with a huge 32 goals scored in nine games you wouldn’t bet against them on Tuesday night. Get on both teams to score!
Norway v Iceland – 7.00pm Tuesday
Both teams to score odds – 4/5
Two teams here who will have very different feelings about how their campaigns have progressed. Iceland are in pole position for the play off spot in their group, the outsiders have some how kept ahead of Slovenia and Tuesday’s opposition Norway and are now just one win away from giving them a real chance of making World Cup 2014. Norway would have been hopeful of making the World Cup either through the play offs or even automatically when the groups were drawn but they lie in fourth with no chance of even making third.
After their unacceptable campaign, Norway will want to go out on a high after some very disappointing results, last Friday they lost 3-0 in Slovenia and the fans will want some sort of improvement. In recent times the Norwegians have beaten Slovenia at home and Macedonia as well as minnows Cyprus and even though I think Iceland will get the win they desperately need, I can see Norway getting a goal.
This is the Icelandic’s biggest game in their recent history and they will know that three points will be enough to give them a play off opportunity. In Sigurðsson and Sigþórsson, Iceland have goal scorers and i think they will have enough to find the back of the net at least a couple of times.
