Every football fan loves a game of goals, and we’re predicting three of them on Tuesday night with high hopes of landing a 9/2 treble.
All we need is a minimum of three goals in each of these matches and we’ll be celebrating a fantastic early week. As if there wasn’t already enough excitement to have us glued to the TV throughout Tuesday’s mouth-watering schedule.
Fingers crossed for the boom.
Benfica V FC Astana
One main talking point of the night is the start of this year’s Champions League group phase. Tuesday’s matches should produce plenty of drama and, hopefully, lots of goals. Not least in Portugal as Benfica welcome FC Astana to the Estadio da Luz.
For the visitors, just reaching this stage of the competition signals an incredible achievement. The Kazakhstanis could be difficult to beat on home soil, but we don’t expect Stanimir Stoilov’s men to pick up many points. However, they will be confident after scoring 10 in their past five matches, including a crucial strike against APOEL to seal their place in the group phase.
Nonetheless, Rui Vitoria’s men will be fully expected to win this opening clash. After hitting six at the weekend, the hosts will be in good spirits and will be looking to the firepower Jonas and Kosta Mitroglou for inspiration.
If Benfica turn on the heat, they could quite easily score three of four themselves. If not, the chance of an away goal could still bail us out.
Over 2.5 match goals @ 8/11
Sheffield United V Colchester United
There’s also a few matches across the Football League to look forward to, especially at Bramall Lane as Nigel Adkins men look to bounce back from a disappointing weekend defeat to Bury as they take on struggling Colchester.
Despite Saturday’s loss, the Blades are still sitting fifth in League One’s play-off zone. After scoring 10 times in their opening six matches of the season, they should be confident about notching a few against a poor Eagles defence. After all, Tony Humes’ men have shipped nine in just three games on the road.
The visitors will be confident in the attacking third after scoring three at Chesterfield on the weekend, however, and there is no reason to think they can’t get some joy against the wounded hosts.
Sheffield United should win, but Colchester are more than capable of finding the target too. Over 2.5 looks a very promising selection indeed.

Barrow V Lincoln City
Once again, goals have been a common theme for Conference side Lincoln throughout the early stages of 2015/16. We can’t see the goals drying up as they head to Holker Street and are predicting another game of intense drama involving the Imps.
Chris Moyses’ men have scored 16 and conceded 14 already, averaging 3.33 goals in their nine matches so far. They are a firm favourite on the BTTS coupon, and Saturday’s 3-1 win over Boreham Wood is another reason to have confidence in this selection.
Meanwhile, the hosts have scored five times in their four home matches thus far, so there’s no reason to think they will fire a blank. Darren Edmondson’s men have scored at least once in each of their past six outings. If they can find the target again, this bet should have a great chance of winning.
We love backing goals when Lincoln come out to play. Let’s hope they provide the goods once more.
